New High-Complexity Hybrid Operating Room – Policlinico di Bari (Asclepios III new pavilion)
Project status: Completed
Completion date: May 2025
At the Policlinico di Bari, inside the Asclepios III building, Operamed has delivered a new hybrid operating room of outstanding technological and diagnostic complexity: an area of approximately 100 m² composed of a 50 m² operating suite, control room, technical room, and antechamber, designed and built to meet the most advanced requirements of multidisciplinary surgery.
The project — part of the expansion of the hospital’s surgical block — was developed using the TrueSpace modular prefabricated system, enabling seamless integration between architecture, building services, and medical technologies, and creating a highly specialized environment ready to support complex procedures with state-of-the-art equipment.
A key element of the intervention was the collaboration with Philips, which supplied the ceiling-mounted angiography system and all supporting equipment, ensuring the full integration of diagnostic devices with the room’s technical and infrastructural components. The solution installed was tailored like a custom-designed “technical garment,” built around the specific clinical needs of the Policlinico
The room is also equipped with the new Smart Track Operamed by Tobin system, an advanced technology that monitors the patient through a dedicated wearable bracelet. The system communicates in real time with the operating room, enables preset creation, supports correct patient positioning, and provides the hospital with a complete and updated overview of intervention status and room occupancy. Through a dedicated app, caregivers can also receive real-time updates on the progress of the surgical procedure, improving transparency and communication.
Sterile airflow is ensured by the Nicfa Hybrid laminar flow ceiling, engineered to integrate perfectly with the room’s technical structure and the ceiling angiography system, guaranteeing the highest level of environmental control.
The result is a hybrid operating room that represents, in every aspect, the state of the art of Operamed’s solutions: a concentration of the best technologies available today, orchestrated within a surgical environment designed to combine precision, safety, and digital innovation.
A project that confirms Operamed’s ability to manage highly complex technological environments through an integrated, flexible approach fully oriented toward clinical and design excellence.
