First highly integrated hybrid operating rooms in Italy for the University Hospital of Padua
Project status: Completed
Completion date: Febbraio 2023
Operamed has delivered the first two highly integrated hybrid operating rooms in Italy at the University Hospital of Padua, contributing to the creation of a surgical platform recognized as one of the most advanced in Europe and worldwide.
The two interconnected rooms, each measuring approximately 65 m², were built using the TrueSpace modular prefabrication system, featuring painted stainless-steel finishes, 2 mm radiological shielding, and ISO 5 classification, ensuring the highest standards of environmental control, sanitization, and safety.
The project integrates two angiography systems and a shared CT scanner, along with all primary clinical support equipment — including anesthesia, monitoring, ventilation, and ultrasound systems — enabling hybrid and minimally invasive procedures with continuous diagnostic and surgical capability within the same sterile environment.
The advanced configuration also enables immediate conversion from minimally invasive techniques to open surgery when required, without transferring the patient and ensuring uninterrupted clinical workflow.
The infrastructure further integrates video-routing, recording, teleconferencing, and remote consultation systems, providing in-room access to clinical parameters, diagnostic imaging, and pre-operative data, supporting clinical activity as well as research and academic training.
The result of a complex project launched in 2018 and made possible through close interdisciplinary collaboration, this intervention delivers a highly integrated surgical environment, designed to ensure precision, safety, and efficiency even in the most complex cases — reducing invasiveness, complications, and patient recovery times.
