12 new operating theatres for the IEO 3 expansion

For IEO 3 in Milan, Operamed completed the expansion of an operating block within an existing building: 12 new operating theatres, 5 patient preparation/recovery areas and 7 pre-theatre/operating room entrance areas, for a total surface of 1,000 sqm.

For the Istituto Europeo di Oncologia – IEO 3 in Milan, Operamed completed a major operating block expansion within an existing building.

The project covered a total surface of approximately 1,000 sqm and led to the creation of 12 new operating theatres, supported by 5 areas dedicated to patient preparation and recovery and 7 pre-theatre / operating room entrance areas, designed to improve the efficiency of the surgical workflow.

The intervention was developed using our TrueSpace prefabricated system, with Corian finishes, a highly sanitizable, resistant material suitable for high-complexity healthcare environments. Inside the operating theatres, Operamed also integrated the distribution ducts, including their MEP design, to provide a technical infrastructure aligned with the functional requirements of the operating block.

To complete the project, Operamed supplied 24 bed stations with medical headwall units, contributing to the creation of an organized, functional environment designed to support the different phases of the patient’s surgical pathway.

One of the main challenges of the construction site was coordinating with the other companies involved, within a complex operational context and according to the timeline required by the client. The intervention was completed in 7 months, meeting the organizational needs of a highly prestigious healthcare facility.

Due to the scale of the contract, the complexity of the works and the prestige of the institution, the IEO 3 project represents a particularly significant reference in Operamed’s portfolio: a concrete example of our ability to deliver complex expansion projects, integrating prefabricated systems, technical design, healthcare-grade finishes and coordinated site management.
