Bari polyclinic: construction of a new high-complexity smart hybrid operating room

A space of approximately 100 m², comprising a 50 m² operating room, control room, technical area and anteroom, designed and built to meet the most advanced requirements of multidisciplinary surgery.
The project, part of the expansion of the surgical block, was developed using the prefabricated modular TrueSpace system, which enabled seamless integration of architecture, building services and technologies, creating a highly specialized environment ready to support complex procedures with state-of-the-art equipment.
A central element of the project is the collaboration with Philips, which supplied the Flexarm ceiling-mounted angiography system along with all the required technical equipment, enabling full integration of diagnostic systems with the operating room’s technical infrastructure. The installed solution was custom-designed, conceived as a “technical suit” tailored to the clinical needs of the Policlinico.
The operating room is also equipped with the new Operamed Smart Track system, an advanced technology that enables continuous patient tracking through a dedicated wristband. The system communicates with the operating room in real time, allows the creation of dedicated presets, supports correct patient positioning, and provides the facility with a comprehensive overview of procedure status and operating room occupancy. Through a dedicated app, caregivers can also receive updates on the progress of surgical or interventional procedures, enhancing transparency and communication.
Sterile air distribution is ensured by the Nicfa Hybrid laminar flow ceiling, specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with the room’s technical requirements and the ceiling-mounted angiography system, guaranteeing the highest level of environmental parameter control.
The result is a hybrid operating room that effectively represents the state of the art of Operamed solutions: a concentration of the best available technologies, perfectly coordinated within a surgical environment designed to combine precision, safety and digital innovation.
