Construction of new high-technology hybrid operating rooms


Operamed delivered the new interventional cardiology hybrid operating rooms at the Gaetano Martino University Hospital in Messina, contributing to the transformation of the second floor of Pavilion E into a technological platform dedicated to the treatment of complex cardiac conditions.

The intervention involved the integration of the prefabricated modular TrueSpace system, ensuring maximum construction quality, controlled workflows, ease of sanitation, and operational continuity in high-complexity clinical environments.
The operating rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art angiography systems and large touchless displays that can be operated directly by clinicians under sterile conditions, expanding visual fields and supporting high-precision procedures. Each environment integrates an advanced digital flow video-routing system connected to the hospital RIS/PACS, enabling the visualization, management, and archiving of diagnostic images directly within the operating room, ensuring continuous monitoring and real-time clinical decision-making.
The solution also includes streaming and visualization systems for clinical training and academic education, confirming the project’s strong focus on continuous training and medical-scientific innovation. The department is completed by a dedicated recovery room and a direct connection to the UTIC, ensuring a smooth and timely patient care pathway.
This project highlights Operamed’s commitment to supporting centers of excellence in the delivery of advanced critical environments, where technology, building services integration, and functional design work together in the service of patient safety and clinical efficiency.
