Construction of highly integrated hybrid operating rooms

Operamed has created the first two highly integrated hybrid operating rooms in Italy at the Hospital-University of Padua

The project has contributed to the creation of a surgical platform recognized as one of the most advanced in Europe and worldwide.

The two interconnected rooms, each approximately 65 m² in size, were constructed using the prefabricated TrueSpace modular system, featuring a painted stainless steel finish, 2 mm x-ray shielding, and ISO 5 classification, ensuring the highest standards of environmental control, sanitization, and safety.

The project integrates two angiographs and a shared CT scan, as well as the main clinical support systems—anesthesia, monitoring, ventilation, and ultrasound—enabling hybrid and minimally invasive procedures with diagnostic and surgical continuity in the same room.

The advanced configuration allows, if necessary, immediate conversion from minimally invasive techniques to open surgery, without patient transfer and with full operational continuity.

The infrastructure also integrates video routing, recording, teleconferencing, and remote consultation systems, with in-room access to clinical parameters, diagnostic images, and pre-operative data, supporting clinical, research, and university teaching activities.

The result of a complex project launched in 2018 and realized thanks to intense teamwork, the intervention creates a surgical environment with the highest levels of technological and clinical integration, designed to ensure precision, safety, and efficiency even in the most complex cases, reducing the invasiveness of procedures, complications, and patient recovery times.
