Construction of prefabricated operating rooms
A project of extraordinary complexity and innovation: Operamed delivered 14 prefabricated operating rooms using our TrueSpace modular prefabrication system for the new operating block of the DEAS Department at the Careggi University Hospital.
Designed to meet the demands of extreme emergencies within the Trauma Center, as well as cardiac and vascular surgery, the new operating rooms host large multidisciplinary teams and high-technology equipment, including five state-of-the-art angiography systems. To ensure maximum operational efficiency, the rooms are generously sized—ranging from 55 to 105 m²—and capable of accommodating complex equipment and integrated workflows.
The modular walls were built with 12 mm self-supporting DuPont™ Corian® panels, a material that offers strength, durability, and antibacterial properties throughout its entire thickness, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and long-term performance.
The environments are enhanced by vertically back-enameled glazed modules in three color tones, creating elegant and luminous decorative elements. Airtight automatic doors in painted steel are customized with large graphic numbering, adding a contemporary design touch while facilitating clear identification of each operating room.
Medical monitors are flush-mounted within the wall surfaces to ensure ease of cleaning and continuous, seamless finishes. The entire complex is completed with fixed medical equipment, surgical lighting systems, and ceiling-mounted service units by Trumpf Medical, along with the latest-generation Truelink 4 Videomed video integration system.
The result is a high-technology, high-performance surgical block, designed to respond efficiently and safely to the requirements of advanced and multidisciplinary surgery.
